GEORGE TELFER, JEWETT

George I. Telfer, 59, co-owner of Telfer Brothers Hardware Store, died Monday in his home at Jewett following a long illness. Born in Jewett, he was a son of Garnett Busby Telfer of here and the late Albert Telfer. He was a member of Scio Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge. He taught school in the area for many years. Surviving in addition to his mother are a son, Capt. Gary L. Telfer of Jacksonville, N.C., where he is serving with the Marine Corps; a sister and brother, Mrs. Raymond (Olive) Kane and Dean E. of here; and 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Condo Telfer. Services will be Friday at 2 in Telfer Funeral Home with Revs. Albert Oakes and Arthur Williams officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday afternoon and night. Masonic services will be Thursday at 6:30.
